Fulton Safety committee report: April, 2013

The 5th Precinct Open House is set for Tuesday, May 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 3101 Nicollet Ave. The event features information displays and demonstrations from the Bomb Squad, K-9, SWAT, 311, Horse Patrol, Police Activities League, Park Police, and a performance by the Police Band. Refreshments will be available.
Fulton neighborhood crime reports
March 9 Between March 9 and 11, an unknown suspect rummaged through a vehicle which was parked in the rear driveway of a home on the 5300 block ofChowen Ave. The loss was unknown at the time of the report.
March 10 Between 5 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a vehicle which was parked in front of a home on the 5300 block of Ewing, rummaged through it, and took a wallet containing credit cards, gift cards, and health insurance cards from the center console.
March 12 Between 8:30 p.m. and 8:15 a.m., unknown suspect(s) stole a vehicle which was parked on the street on the 5000 block of Vincent Ave. The victim later received an e-mail message from a neighbor who called 911 at about 2:30 a.m. on March 13 regarding two males walking down the street, trying car doors. Police responded but did not find the suspects.
March 25 Between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m., a female suspect entered Brides of France, 5015 France Ave. The suspect left the store and then came back. The suspect asked for a catalogue and a glass of water. After the suspect left for the second time, an employee found that money had been taken from her wallet, which was on top of her purse behind the counter.
March 30 Between 11 p.m. and 11 a.m., a theft from motor vehicle was reported at an address on the 4900 block of Upton. The vehicle was parked on the street.
March 31 At about 3 p.m., two juvenile males walking southbound toward 51st St in the alley between Xerxes Ave and York Ave were approached by about five male suspects. The suspects punched the victims in the face and took $10 from one of them. The victims stated that they would not be able to recognize the suspects, who were wearing hoodies over their heads.
April 2 Between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m., an unknown suspect broke the front passenger side window of a vehicle which was parked at West 47th St & West Lake Harriet Parkway and took a purse from the front seat.
April 3 Between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m., a suspect broke the passenger side window of a vehicle which was parked at the Holiday Station, 3700 West 50th St, and took items including an iPhone. The driver of the vehicle, who was in the store at the time, used another iPhone to track the location of the stolen phone, which was at 45th & Abbott. The driver went to that location and saw a black late-model Nissan Sentra with a male behind the wheel. (The driver gave a description of the suspect to police: white male, mid-30s, dark hair, unshaven.) The suspicious vehicle left quickly, going northbound on Abbott, then eastbound on 44th St. The driver followed and saw the suspicious vehicle again, but it took off at high speed and he lost sight of it.
April 5 Between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked in front of a home on the 5300 block of Zenith and took a purse.
April 7 At about 8:50 a.m., officers responded to a theft in progress on the 4800 block of West Lake Harriet Parkway. A suspect broke the window of a vehicle which was parked at an address on that block. The extent of the loss was not known at the time of the report. A witness gave officers information about the suspect, who was gone when they arrived.

Forced entry property crimes
March 12 Between 9 p.m. and 2:15 a.m., a home on the 3700 block of Zenith in Linden Hills was burglarized.
March 23 Between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a vehicle which was parked in front of a home on the 4800 block of Fremont in Lynnhurst and took unlisted items. The suspect used the garage door opener from the vehicle (which was found in the driveway) to open the garage door, but nothing was taken.
April 3 At about 8:40 a.m., a suspect broke out a window of a vehicle parked at an address on the 5000 block of Bryant in Lynnhurst and took electronics.
April 3 Between 10:15 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a vehicle which was parked in the rear driveway of a home on the 3700 block of Abbott in Linden Hills, rummaged through it, and took a driver’s license, five credit cards, and three bank cards. A checkbook was not taken, although the victim was not sure if there were any checks missing. One of the credit cards and one of the bank cards had already been used when the theft was discovered.
April 5 Between 6 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., an unknown suspect burglarized a garage on the 4900 block of Dupont in Lynnhurst. A vehicle inside the garage was damaged. An abandoned bike was found in the alley.
April 5 Between 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a garage on the 4900 block of Dupont in Lynnhurst and rummaged through a vehicle which was parked inside. A vehicle which was parked in the driveway was damaged and change was taken from the glove compartment.
April 6 Between 10 p.m. and 9:20 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a garage on the 4900 block of Newton in Lynnhurst and took an unlisted item.
April 7 Between 2:50 and 4:30 p.m., an unknown suspect took unlisted items from a vehicle which was parked at 42nd & Queen in Linden Hills.
March 10 Between noon March 10 and 9 a.m. March 11, an unknown suspect rummaged through a vehicle which was parked in the driveway of a home on the 4500 block of Zenith in Linden Hills and took a GPS unit, charger, and mount. The victim believes that the vehicle was not locked.
March 21 Between 5:30 p.m. March 21 and 12:30 p.m. March 22, an unknown suspect entered an open garage on the 5200 block of Irving in Lynnhurst and took unlisted item(s).
March 22 Between March 22 and 24, an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked on the street on the 5500 block of Bryant in Kenny and took an iPod and checks from a checkbook.
March 29 Between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m., an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked in front of an address on the 5600 block of Morgan in Armatage, rummaged through it, and took DVDs, cash, credit cards, checks (from the middle of three checkbooks), and other items from a wallet.
March 22 At about 5:25 p.m., officers stopped a suspect at 39th & Chowen in Linden Hills for soliciting without a permit. 30-year-old Terrance Michael Lee Jr of Cleveland, Ohio, was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant out of Excelsior for a solicitation violation and a misdemeanor warrant out of Anoka County. Lee has prior convictions in Minnesota for soliciting without a permit (4) and offensive conduct.
March 26 At about 1:40 p.m., an officer at 39th & York in Linden Hills cited 22-year-old Tyler Lee Hall of 5825 43rd Ave South for excessive sound from a motor vehicle.
March 29 At about 3:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a peeping tom and property damage at Turn Style Consignment Store, 4420 Drew Ave in Linden Hills.
April 3 At about 7:15 p.m., a person at 62nd & Penn in Armatage was assaulted, stabbed, and robbed by a friend. The suspect took $80 from the victim’s jacket pocket. The victim was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
April 5 At about 1 a.m., police at 50th & Logan in Lynnhurst cited a 16-year-old male for curfew violation and transported him home.
