Fulton Safety Committee report – November 9, 2016

Crime reports

September 29  Between 10:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked on the street on the 5000 block of Vincent, rummaged through it, and took two garage door openers.  The owner found the overhead garage door open and a bike missing.

October 1  Between 8 a.m. October 1 and noon October 2, an unknown suspect entered a vehicle which was parked in the rear driveway of a home on the 4900 block of Upton and took cash.

October 4  At about 11:40 p.m., officers were dispatched regarding a suspicious male in a vehicle which was parked at the Holiday Station, 3700 West 50th St.  When the officers woke up the suspect, he appeared to be disoriented.  24-year-old John Jacob Hammerstad of Columbia Heights was arrested for a felony warrant from the Minnesota Department of Corrections.  Hammerstad, who is on supervised release from prison for theft and receiving stolen property, has prior convictions in Minnesota for domestic assault, criminal vehicular operation with negligence while under the influence of alcohol, motor vehicle theft, driving while intoxicated, theft (2), receiving stolen property (2), and disorderly conduct.

October 6  Between 7:30 p.m. and 8 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a locked garage on the 5000 block of Sheridan and apparently used some kind of tool to unlock a vehicle which was parked inside.  There were scratches on the driver’s side window glass.  The suspect rummaged through the vehicle and took a garage door opener, an iPad, and a laptop computer in a bag.  The suspect also took items from the garage including golf clubs in a golf bag, a tool set, tackle box, fishing rod, and sander.  The garage access door and dead bolt lock were not damaged.

October 6  Between 10:30 p.m. and 8 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a vehicle which was parked on the street on the 4900 block of Russell and took a garage door opener.  There was no loss reported in the garage.  The owner believes that the vehicle’s doors were locked, but it’s unknown how the suspect gained entry.

October 11  At 9 p.m., a resident of a home on the 5000 block of Russell reported that an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked in front of the home and took a necklace.

October 11  Between October 11 and 14, an unknown suspect cut the lock box that was hanging on the front door of a home on the 4800 block of Vincent, entered the home, and took two televisions.

October 13  Between 10:45 p.m. October 13 and 11:15 p.m. October 14, an unknown suspect threw a large rock through the front window of a home on the 5300 block of Chowen.

October 16  Between 1 and 9 a.m., an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked at a home on the 4900 block of Washburn and took a garage door opener and a bag of tools.  The owner reported that a neighbor’s dog started barking at about 4 a.m.

October 16  Between midnight and 11:40 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a vehicle which was parked behind a home on the 5000 block of Thomas and took a credit card and garage door opener.  The suspect used the opener to open the garage, but no loss was reported.

October 27  Between October 27 and 29, an unknown suspect entered a home on the 5300 block of Abbott through a rear window and took unlisted items.

The Fulton Safety Committee meets Tuesday, November 29, at 7:00 p.m.
