Notice of a Public Hearing: 2314 W. 53rd St.

Barbara & Tom Daenzer have submitted a variance application to allow the construction of a new deck on a steep slope in the SH Shoreland Overlay District at the property located at 2314 W. 53rd Street.

The Minneapolis Board of Adjustment will meet on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 4:30 p.m., in Room 317 City Hall, 350 S. 5th St., Minneapolis, MN.  Interested parties are invited to attend and be heard. Planning Department staff will issue a recommendation to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. After hearing from the public, the Zoning Board of Adjustment will make a determination based on required legal findings of fact. City To Hold Public Open Houses on “Granny Flats”

The city has received interest in Accessory Dwelling Units (granny flats) from many stakeholders and is considering allowing them in Minneapolis. We invite you to attend an open house to share your thoughts about this potential policy change. Staff will provide research from other Minnesota communities and other US cities where granny flats are allowed, and will take feedback about how these could work in Minneapolis neighborhoods. Minneapolis Charter Commission Notice of Public Hearing

The Minneapolis Charter Commission will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 beginning at a time certain of 4:30 p.m. for the purpose of soliciting comments concerning the provisions of the Charter which allow wine and beer sales in establishments where more than 70% of gross receipts are attributable to the sale of food.  The proposed amendment would eliminate the 70% requirement in the Charter and leave regulation of these establishments to Ordinance.  The proposed amendment would also eliminate Charter restrictions on the ability to sell alcohol until after food has been purchased and limitations on the ability to have a bar area and leave these issues to Ordinance.

50th St. Corridor Plan

Fulton and Lynnhurst neighborhoods are jointly considering the pursuit of a Small Area Plan for 50th St. between France and Lyndale Avenues. This plan could address development, zoning, housing, parking, growth, density, etc. along the commercial nodes of 50th St.

Board representatives of both neighborhoods have been meeting to further research the issue and gain insight as to the most effective way to affect change. 

A public meeting will be held on Thurs., May 1 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Lynnhurst Community Center (1345 W. Minnehaha Pkwy.) to discuss the information learned as well as next steps.
