We’re excited to launch Snow Angels, a volunteer pilot program in partnership with the City of Minneapolis Public Works Department, offering free snow-shoveling to keep public sidewalks safer and more accessible this winter.

Volunteer Requirements

How Volunteering Works

  • We aim to match you with a neighbor near your home whenever possible.
    You’ll receive an email once assigned. You may be matched immediately, later in the season, or not at all depending on neighborhood need.
  • Please assist your assigned neighbor(s) within 24 hours when it is safe to do so.
  • If you’re open to helping more than one neighbor (up to two), let us know in your sign-up form.
  • Residents will either provide the tools you need, or you may use your own. If you don’t have tools available, let our team know and we’ll do our best to supply a shovel. The City will provide free salt/sand.
  • Volunteers must sign the liability agreement and cannot accept payment of any kind from the neighbor they support.
  • Volunteers should be reachable by email or text so they can be notified of snow-clearing needs.
  • Volunteers must be willing to submit a photo of their completed snow-clearing through the FNA Snow Angel form for City reporting requirements.

Need Help Shoveling?

You may qualify if you are a Fulton resident and meet at least one of the following:

  • 65 or older
  • A person with a disability
  • Experiencing a temporary illness or injury

This program focuses on public sidewalks only and helps ensure residents are not in violation of City ordinance.

Not eligible:

  • Apartment buildings with provided snow removal
  • HOAs/associations with commercial snow service
  • Commercial properties or businesses

What to Expect

  • The Snow Angel Program is fully volunteer-based, so assistance cannot be guaranteed. Matching depends on volunteer availability near your home and make take a number of weeks.
  • If matched, you’ll be notified by email (or another method if needed). Registration is rolling—matches may occur later in the season.
  • Designed for major snow events (2″+); volunteers may choose whether to assist in lighter snow.
  • Please allow up to 24 hours after snowfall ends for your Snow Angel to arrive. Volunteers balance work, family, and their own sidewalks—thank you for your patience.
  • Please provide a shovel and salt outside your home for volunteer use.
  • Note:  This is not a one time or ‘on demand’ service. Once you fill out the form, all efforts will be made to match you with a volunteer for the season.

All volunteers sign a liability waiver before participating.
