Environment
Current initiatives to keep Fulton green:
Rainwater Management
Maintaining Our Urban Forest
- Tree care tips from the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB)
- How to make a slow drain bucket to water your tree
- In the spring of 2010, the Fulton Environment Committee partnered with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to remove over 65 boulevard stumps in the neighborhood. The Park Board will be planting 50 new boulevard trees this spring. Most of the trees will be maples, but the Forestry crew will also plant Japanese tree lilac, disease-resistant elm, honey locust, hackberry, river birch and gingko. If you’d like a new boulevard tree next spring, call the MPRB to request a tree at 612-370-4900.
Fulton Plant Sale – June 3, 4, 5, 2011
- Always the same weekend as the Edina Art Fair
- Proceeds from our annual plant sale each year are set aside to plant additional boulevard trees in Fulton neighborhood.
- To donate plants for the sale or to volunteer to organize, set up or staff the plant sale, contact Mary at 612-922-1591 or e-mail environment@fultonneighborhood.org.
Dutch Elm Disease prevention
- Discounts for inoculation of your elms against Dutch Elm disease are available from Rainbow Tree Care. Contact Scott Henke at 952-922-3810.
