About the event: The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) uses a community-focused, public health approach to help ensure that everyone can be free from violence. Working to break the cycle of violence by addressing it at three points: Preventing it before it begins Intervening at the first sign of risk Healing after it happens Learn about current initatives and their community-focused approach as well as how you can support this important work. The Office of Performance and Innovation helps the City innovate and transform citizens’ lives while addressing barriers to developing and implementing solutions. Summer Story Strolls

Join us this summer for a series of story strolls! Put on by FNA's Racial Equity Committee, Hennepin County Library, and Minneapolis Parks. May 16-18 🐝“The Thing about Bees”🐝 The theme of the story is  a tribute to the bees that pollinate the foods we love to eat. Children are introduced to different kinds of bees, "how not to get stung," and how the things we fear are often things we don't fully understand. Want to further the conversation? Story Stroll Come take a stroll and read this “The Last Stop on Market Street.” The story is about appreciating differences, finding beauty all around us even in unlikely places, and helping out-being an active community member. Drop off food inside the box at Pershing Park between 6/6-6/9. We will collect and drop off all donations on 6/10. E-waste Recycling, Paper Shredding, and Data Destruction DATE: Saturday, September 24th TIME: 9:00 am – 12:00pm LOCATION: Mayflower Church, 106 E Diamond Lake Road, Minneapolis, MN 55419 Please enter via Diamond Lake Rd. and exit via the alley onto Stevens Ave. S. Directional signs and volunteers will be on site to direct traffic. **Friendly reminder that Mpls Solid Waste & Recycling customers can also set out two electronics items every week and recycle paper in their blue cart for no extra fee!** At this event, you’ll be able to shred and recycle confidential documents and recycle electronics AND have secure data destruction. FREE EVENT! Donations of $5 happily accepted, or $5 + $5 if you want to sponsor a neighbor, to help us cover Tech Dump and paper shredding fees, and other event costs.
