Congratulations and thank you to this year’s Friends of Fulton award winners who were honored at the FNA Annual meeting on October 13. Many thanks to these wonderful volunteers whose efforts make Fulton the great neighborhood that it is.
Marc Holtey – Pershing Park Director Marc Holtey is the backbone of Pershing Park’s outstanding park activities and a steadfast supporter of FNA programs and initiatives. His collaboration with FNA is the reason for our success in reaching out to the community. We are grateful for his giving, community spirit. Marc has been a member of the Community Engagement Committee for three years and plays a key role in coordinating the Fulton Festival at Pershing Park. We are very lucky to have Marc as our Park Director.
Lisa McCleary – Lisa has served as the Fulton Block Club Facilitator for the past two years. As Block Club Facilitator, she recruits new block contacts and maintains the list of contacts. She keeps the welcome packets updated and ensures that packets are delivered to new homeowners via their block contacts and she sends out welcome letters to new homeowners. Lisa also is a member of the Fulton Community Engagement Committee and has coordinated Children’s Activities at the Festival for two years.
Barbara Melom – One of Barb’s missions is to help homeless people. Not only does she plan, shop for, prepare and serve meals at the Simpson Shelter, but she also organizes knitters from all over the U.S. to make socks and “Hats for the Homeless.” At her community-garden plot she gathers vegetables from other gardeners to donate to those in need of fresh food. She also participates in Project Homeless Connect, a one-day, one-stop-shop of comprehensive services for the homeless.
Courtney Remes – Courtney designed our beautiful new Fulton website, working in collaboration with our FNA Website Committee. In addition to her work for the neighborhood, she has contributed many volunteer hours working on the website, especially on the business directory. Our thanks to Courtney for making us look so good and helping us to ensure that we have a strong web presence.
Kris Roe – In her position as staff at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Kris helped provide comfortable and convenient meeting space for the Safety committee for the past decade. Kris has been one of the committee’s strongest allies, always willing to accommodate special requests (such as arranging large community gatherings at the church) and offering to help out in any way. Kris has also been a longtime neighborhood volunteer, who was active in NRP planning projects during the 1990s. The Safety committee thanks Kris for her years of good work on behalf of Fulton neighborhood!
