The FAA announced this week that they will not implement RNAV technology for ANY departures out of MSP. Click here to view the letter from the FAA. Thanks to all of you for your support!
This is a huge win for us and would not have been possible without a united front. We hope you sign our thank you note to the local, state, and federal representatives thanking them for joining in the cause.
While we are very happy with this win, the FAA has said they could revisit this decision as early as next year. We need laws in place to guard us against any changes in the future.
In addition, airport noise and air pollution will still be a major problem for many throughout our neighborhoods and those in Richfield, Bloomington, Eagan, and Mendota Heights.
We must continue to rally for these remaining important issues:
– Mandating an environmental impact study (EIS) for all changes at
MSP – land and air
– Changing how noise is measured to be fair for all our neighborhoods
– Creating a long-term statewide aviation plan that addresses the
inevitable airport growth at MSP
So, the fight continues…
A joint House and Senate Transportation hearing on these issues is being held on March 4th. Click here for more details.
Once again, it is important for us to have a strong showing at this hearing to demonstrate to our legislators that we care. We hope to see you all there — and bring a neighbor!
Thanks again for your ongoing support.
