A Tour of George Floyd Square
This George Floyd Square Pilgrimage Journey is led by guides from George Floyd Global Memorial (GFGM). This event is funded by the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council (LHiNC) and the Fulton Neighborhood Association (FNA). Together as neighbors we will meet at 38th and Chicago on May 11th for a guided tour of this globally recognized site of protest.
As we approach the third anniversary of the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police, we will reflect on the racial reckoning of 2020 and our collective and ongoing pursuit of racial justice in Minnesota. George Floyd Square includes murals, offerings, a meeting space, a greenhouse, and more. One block to the North is the “Say Their Names” cemetery. Read more about George Floyd Square here.
Registration is required. Transportation is not provided, but if this precludes you from participating, please email info@lindenhills.org to see if we can facilitate a ride. This group tour is the result of LHiNC and FNA participating in a Minnesota Peacebuilding Institute training program focused on community conversations. After the pilgrimage, participants will be invited to take part in a discussion and reflection.
