Over the past ten years, the Fulton Environment Committee has help fund rainwater management projects for residents. Money was allocated to pay for professional consultations and implementation costs for rain barrels, gutter redirection, rain gardens, French drains and dry creek beds. This year the committee is reaching out to businesses in the neighborhood to offer matching grant(s) up to $13,000 to make improvements in managing rainwater from roofs and parking lots.
The committee invites Fulton commercial property owners to submit written plans for consideration. Eligible project ideas include permeable parking lots, green roofs, gutter direction into rain gardens, or other run-off alternatives. All projects will be evaluated by a certified Rainwater Management Consultant for long-term viability of the project and the benefit to the neighborhood.
Submit written plans to: Environment Committee, Pershing Park, 3523 West 48th St., Minneapolis, MN 55410 by June 15, 2010.
