To ensure that fire trucks and other emergency vehicles can continue to navigate Minneapolis neighborhoods, Winter Parking Restrictions will go into effect Friday in Minneapolis.
Beginning Friday, December 17, 2010 at 8:00 a.m., Do Not Park on the EVEN numbered side of non-Snow Emergency Routes until April 1, unless conditions allow the City to lift the ban earlier. Streets designated as parkways and Snow Emergency Routes are not affected by Winter Parking Restrictions and vehicles can park on both sides of these streets unless otherwise posted.
Winter parking restrictions are being put in place because Minneapolis has had so much snow that streets cannot by plowed wide enough to allow access for emergency vehicles. That poses a risk to public safety.
Vehicles that are parked in violation of the parking restrictions are subject to a ticket and tow.
For more information visit the City’s snow information website, or call the Snow Emergency Hotline: 612-348-SNOW (7669).
